Life of the Party
Frivolous/flippant ways of dealing with serious subject matter give you a kind of "two emotions at once" feeling. This isn't necessarily that deep, but if you do it with simpler issues, teenage/personal issues, and then take that "opposites at the same time" feeling into other places like - it sucks to work, I like enjoying myself, I don't want to say that I am better than anyone one but if I don't have to, I'd rather that someone else made my socks while I do this. My friend's dad, growing up, talked about how he thought that developing empathy for fish could eventually lead to healing the ails of a relationship. I still don't know about that, but I am applying the echo-theory to the state of commercial art and why it is pretty valuable.

an actual favorite

so this intro is totally the watered down version of the intro to Emperor's Prometheus - weird. Is Lady Gaga a genius who like all music?

the intro to this is totally a harpsichord simpleton version of the intro to prometheus - awesome.

many things are like that, but good for her for choosing that influence.

I think I get what Branca meant now

So the first time someone told me that Branca said he learned music theory by keeping his ear to a speaker I laughed but I get it now. I was such a literal minded weener as a kid but I can figure out a ton of shit these days and can write the riffs I want to hear - just from listening to enough music. I know, I'm not special many a realer punk have done this before and way better, and I still can't play guitar for shit, I hate fucking practicing and my finger dexterity sucks. Still, finally internalizing what Branca meant, makes me suddenly want to be more cautious about retaining my hearing. I barely passed music theory I - the greatest pleasure in life would be gone if I lost my hearing. I would choose female circumcision over deafness for sure.

When I first saw this clip I had this idea

and here it is! Thanks person.

Idea inspired by youth and Melody Boone - Human Scale Kaleidoscope!

So a friend of mine in Grad School, Melody Boone, made a really cool sculptural video piece using a kaleidoscope effect - when I was younger, in my mom's old apartment, we had a hallway of mirrors coating our closet doors. By opening the doors, most of them at about a 45 degree angle, you could create a room full of "you" it was something that definitely coaxed my vanity but could be an awesome sculptural interpretation of a human scale kaleidoscope. The viewer is in the middle of it - it's cool. I took the hallway for granted cause I lived with it, but it's very cool. Dan Graham would be into it. You could even, if you got SUPER fancy, put motors on the track somehow to make a more literal kaleidoscope physical object that's fun to be inside of... I hope Melody is into this.

for the love of god ... his first meal should be a hot dog. Awesome.

Other best as of yet unexecuted idea -

MAke a movie with the shittiest production value that ends up being the most expensive movie ever made JUST because of the soundtrack. Best. Art. Film. EVER.

Heavy Metal Garden - a reality!

So - I made a present for someone close to my heart called "heavy metal garden." We'd been in Lowe's looking for things to install my thesis show and came upon these appromimately 2"X3" slats with intense razor sharp daggers protruding a few centimeters off the base. I don't remember how the idea came about but, through riffing, the idea of making an entire room, with this as the grass/sod came about. I decided to make a gift/mock-up for him - it was a rose stickered interior of a shoe box with these slats pasted inside like a renaissance courtyard garden (like the one in Blithewood at Bard college). This rose coming out of the metal/mesh facade of the new museum makes me think - we are plugged into the zeitgeist man, and this version is way cooler and MORE "Heavy Metal Garden"! sweet.

Ride the Mountain

talk about opening the gates to crystal palace...

here is my newest good idea - take all the excess plastic generated from a high-rise for how ever long it would probably take to sail the hudson. Take said plastic and make it into giant sails for make shifts rafts to do the journey. It would be beautiful so long as you pick a dry spell (rain might botch this one...)
Really digging southpark, ...and you will know us by the trail of the dead, and re-visiting dostoevsky. In the future, I think I will look back on this as my indie/russian whore phase.

Bad sexist joke
